The US chiropractic industry includes about 28,000 establishments (single and multi-location companies). There are approximately 50,000 licensed chiropractors with a combined annual revenue of about $9 billion. No major companies dominate with the top 50 companies generating less than 10% of the annual revenue.

Demand for chiropractic services is increased by the aging population, along with the increasing consumer acceptance of alternative medicine and chiropractic care.

The profitability of a chiropractor depends on effective marketing,  maximizing billable hours and solid patient relationships. The industry is labor-intensive: average annual revenue $60,000 - $80,000 - while ranging from $30,000-$95,000 and up.

Patient services account for 95 percent of the total industry revenue. Additional sources of revenue include sales of medical devices and equipment, vitamins, nutraceuticals and OTC drugs. Chiropractors, as with all healthcare providers, seek new and innovative products to improve healthcare of their patients.
