Product Design - Mechanical Engineer, Medical Imaging, Electro Mechanical

 

 The Product Design Engineer will join a team in the radiation detectors, radiation shielding, support structures, linear motion systems, production tooling and fixtures and production test equipment for medical imaging devices.  You will engineer the design, fabrication and testing of prototypes which will ultimately be installed in hospital and clinical imaging environments. Must have the ability to gather and process input from all disciplines that are involved in developing the functional requirements related to the product’s physical design.  You will be involved in developing and facilitating the execution of system verification plans for assemblies and test fixtures and tools producing a physical design that meets the performance, cost and schedule goals of the projects.   The candidate must have a passion and desire to learn, as well as the ability to take on new tasks without hesitation.

Primary Responsibilities:

    * Comply with regulatory and quality requirements for medical devices
    * Conducts design reviews and documentation control so as to satisfy medical device regulations and harmonized standards for the design history files.
    * Develops and facilitates in the execution of system verification plans for assemblies and test fixtures and tools

Qualifications:

    * Must have experience in true design and prototyping, some modification of OEM
    * Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience. MS mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, a plus.
    * 4 years relevant medical industry experience (Preferred)
    * 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering environment for designing, specifying, fabricating, assembling, testing, validating, and debugging machinery, product and manufacturing process  with a passion for mechanisms
    * 3 years experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks software including surfacing tools.
    * ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and experience.
    * 3D Solid Modeling, FEA, GD&T, and CFD.
    * Ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally with other groups in Engineering and throughout the company.
    * Ability to solve complex engineering problems or implement solutions or processes for manufacturing
    * Candidate must show job stability - professional contractor/consultants need not apply

Travel:     Less than 10 days/year

Position Requirement 1     4 to 8 years experience in an engineering environment for designing, specifying, fabricating, assembling, testing, validating, and debugging machinery
Position Requirement 2     Extensive experience (4+ years) in mechanisms, to include motors and actuators.
Position Requirement 3     5-8 years experience working with Principal Engineers
Position Requirement 4     Proficient in SolidWorks modeling as well as FEA, GD&T and CFD experience
Position Requirement 5     Ability to do 3D modeling detail / drafing with full Art to Part background
Position Requirement 6     Design experience in radiation detectors, radiation shielding, support structures, production tooling and fixtures for medical imaging devices
